My Best Photographs of Amsterdam in 2021 – Part 1

Over the past few years, I’ve gotten very into photography, and even though I currently live in a city with an endless supply of interesting photographic material (New York City), I get completely mentally recharged when I travel.  Amsterdam inspires me like few other places.

I took over 4000 photos when I visited.  Although I am a hobbyist, I am really trying to improve my photography skills.  I still haven’t settled on a particular style or genre, like a lot of photographers do.  I don’t think I’m at the point where you can look at a photo and say, “oh, that’s a Plotnick”.  I’m not sure I’ll ever be at that point, because my interests are all over the map.  I like street photography, but I also like landscape photography and I like portraits, and although most of my photos are in color, I’m very drawn to black and white.  I hope I don’t fall into that trap of being “jack of all trades, master of none”.

Anyway, I went through all of the photos, and selected the ones that interested me the most.   Some I chose just because they amused me.  Some depicted the sheer beauty of the city.  In some of the photos, I was happy with the way the photo was composed.  Some were compelling simply because of the subject matter.  In any event, here are the first  25 of my favorite photos from Amsterdam in 2021.
