Quick Book Review: “The Passionate Photographer: Ten Steps Towards Becoming Great” by Steve Simon
I’ve been reading a lot of books on photography since it’s become a big hobby for me, and this book is definitely the best I’ve read so far. Written in a really easy, candid style, the author provides a ten-step plan for success that really covers everything you might ever consider when pursuing photography, whether as a career or as a hobby. Every question that I’ve had while taking photos is addressed in the book. Every experience I’ve had, every doubt, all of the little things that I’ve noticed or discovered by myself when shooting, he addresses in the book, with smart and practical insights about it. Throughout the book he discusses his own personal triumphs, failures, and lessons learned, and illustrates them all with a large selection of photographic examples. All of this information (and there’s a lot) is delivered in an enthusiastic, encouraging tone that makes you want to put the book down and run outside and start shooting. Steve Simon has branded himself as The Passionate Photographer, and it’s perfect for him, because his passion and enthusiasm comes through on every page.
