I’ve read all of Sedaris’s books (except his diary, from two years ago).  He was on quite a streak, with Naked, Me Talk Pretty One Day, and Dress Your Family in Corduroy and Denim.  All were hilarious. Then he came out with Squirrel Meets Chipmunk and Let’s Explore Diabetes with Owls, and they weren’t very funny at all.  They were pretty bad, in fact. I thought maybe he’s just lost it. Well, he hasn’t. This book was great. Very amusing stories about his family and his travels. In this book in particular, he addresses some serious topics as well, most notably the suicide of his sister.  He also has a moving essay on gay marriage, and other political topics that veer from the generally hilarious tone, but don’t detract at all. It’s really the Sedaris of old, and I loved it.
