Hello Zanzibar

I took a plane to Zanzibar immediately after Mission Rabies Tanzania completed. Start HERE to check out the Mission Rabies Tanzania Journey from the beginning.

We (Mike and I) got a ride to the airport, got through security, and boarded our flight to Zanzibar. It was a small plane, and there were about 50 passengers on it.

The plane was going to continue to Dar Es Salaam, and most of the passengers stayed on.  Only about 7 or 8 of us got off in Zanzibar.  We exited the airport, and our driver was there to meet us.  I got this cool pic on the ramp from the plane to the airport.

The drive to the other side of the island was about 45 minutes, and our driver was driving maniacally.  We finally got to the hotel, and wow, it’s beautiful.  A real resort hotel. Nice dining area.

Dining tables on the beach, too.

Lots of palm trees, fine white sand, turquoise water, and a great breeze.  This couch, right outside the door to our room, was the perfect place to relax.

Plus, the hotel has a few dogs hanging around, which I like a lot.

Our room is very nice. Mike let me have the big bed.

The room is right on the beach.  You open the door to the room, and boom:  the beach.

Mike and I unpacked a bit, set up the room, then went out and strolled on the beach.

Mike and I just spent some time walking on the beach and relaxing on some lounge chairs.  Dinner was pretty nice.  Can’t really beat this view:

We took another stroll after dinner, and we saw the moon was starting to come up.  I got a nice picture of it rising, and another picture of it full, in the sky.  I blurred the colors of the ocean a bit, to make it more moody.

I’m looking forward to a very lazy day tomorrow of just laying in a lounge chair, walking on the beach, reading, blogging, and napping.
